1/f Fluctuations of the Damped Nonlinear Oscillator Equation

Abstract
The 1/f power spectrum occurs naturally for a damped nonlinear oscillator
when it relaxes from high initial kinetic energy. We demonstrate this for
the damped pendulum equation which, since it can describe the Josephson
equation, a particle in a periodic potential, etc., might be applicable
in a number of contexts.
